I will talk more on the new "Thumper" Rabbits later. I usually wait until I have all colors to do an article but I need you all to have this information because of today's reissues in new colors. I now have the Bluenique colored "Thumper" in the Gallery. I have the values around $50 each and I think that is pretty close to what you are going to have to pay to get these originals all bought. Once in a while you can get one of these little rascals for under $30 but I never seem to get them bought for that. to repeat myself here because I waited a long time to get this Amber Rabbit. BUT! I think this little guy may take you a long time to find.Īmber is also a common Viking Color but NOT in the early issued Viking Glass "Thumper" Rabbit! All the other Green colors are lighter and or have the Satin Finish. This Rabbit was made in other green colors but most were new issues. This Scarce Avocado Green is one of many colors of green made by Viking. I will write more about the newer issued "Thumper" Rabbit colors in the future. There are very few of these original colors coming up for sale. I have not recorded an Avocado "Thumper" sale either. I will have to do a better job of listing the "Thumper" Rabbits that sell on Ebay. So at this time I am going to go out on the limb and say the Persimmon "Thumper" may even be Scarce.Īvocado is a common Viking Color but NOT in the early issued Viking Glass "Thumper" Rabbit! I may have missed it but I think these Persimmon ones may be a tougher colors to get a hold of. I have never logged the price of the original Persimmon "Thumper" rabbit. I have been logging the prices paid on Ebay for a number of these rabbits. The Catalog Price List had in made in colors Avocado, Bluenique, Honey (amber), Persimmon and Thistle. The 1968 - 1969 Viking Catalog showed "Thumper" in Persimmon on page 6. The Thumper on the left is a RARE Satin Thistle! This information was taken from an article written by The Miller's in the September, 1977 Rainbow Review Glass. All of his work was done in Crystal and some were Frosted." He had about 10 Glass Animal Figures that he later sold to Viking. What is now known as "Thumper" was one of his early creations. Harry Barth resigned from the Company in the early 40's to organize his own company under the name of Barth-Art Glass Co. The mfg was later dropped and eventual the Company became Viking in the early 40's. "The Mold was designed and made by Harry Barth of Sisterville, WV who was associated with New Martinsville Glass Mfg. I wanted to complete this article at this time with what I had because, Mosser Glass is now reissuing "Thumper" in new colors. I do not have the complete collection of these "Thumper" Rabbits yet. The "Thistle" Bunny has brought well over $50 each in the past and is probably most sought after. My Catalog shows this #6808 only made on in 1968 and written out in 1969 in the Catalog. Such is the case of the "Thumper" Rabbit. It is neat to have some of these, old originals, because the Craftsmen at the time would jot notes in the Catalogs. I have the Original 1968 - 1969 Viking Catalog that came from the Viking Factory floor. The 40 Year Old Original Viking Glass Polished Bottom "Thumper" tough to come by in some colors!
